target group:
The course is aimed at scientists with doctorates and doctoral candidates in the final stages of their studies who wish to gain further qualifications for a career in science.
objectives:
The aim of the seminar is to optimally prepare scientists for a successful scientific career.
- Participants will learn about the requirements for a successful scientific career.
- They will be able to realistically assess their qualifications and skills in relation to career requirements.
- They will have planned the next steps on their path to a professorship in a goal-oriented and systematic manner.
Individual topics and career questions will be explored in depth during the coaching sessions.
conrents:
The course is divided into two parts.
In the first part (day 1), the following topics will be covered:
- Steps and success criteria on the path to a professorship (preparations, appointment procedures, and focus of the committees)
- Individual success strategy
1. Filling specialist fields
2. Publication strategy
3. Cooperation and networking
4. Use of a mentor - Work-life balance
- If possible: invitation and discussion with an experienced professor from Otto von Guericke University on career strategies
Thematic input and individual reflection units alternate in the workshop, enabling participants to apply the information to their personal career planning.
In the second part of the course (day 2), individual coaching sessions (30-minute units) will be used to explore the topics covered in the workshop in greater depth and develop decision-making and planning tools for further steps.
