Getting Started for new PhD students & Postdocs

We would like to give scientists who are new to OVGU a little start-up help and regularly offer an open information and discussion round on ZOOM. After an overview of the structure and basic tasks, and a little insight into the not so obvious responsibilities, there will be plenty of time to answer individual questions. We cordially invite you to get to know OVGU in general and the Graduate Academy's services in particular, so that your start will be as smooth as possible. We speak English and German.

Are you on fire for science? At the end of the master thesis there are more questions than answers? Your professor offers you a PhD position? There are many good reasons to start a PhD and there are many open questions you are welcome to ask us. We offer regular online information and advice sessions, feel free to drop by. The ABC of EU Research Funding
The series of events imparts knowledge and skills on the EU funding program HORIZON Europe. The EU speakers and project managers of the Research Funding Advisory Service share their experience from more than 300 applications and more than 60 EU projects. The aim is to improve the chances of obtaining EU third-party funding for your research as well as to show building blocks for the application in HORIZON Europe and to give tips for the application process.
Part A deals with the calls for EU research funding in Horizon Europe. It will deal with funding opportunities, conditions of participation, timing, consortium and others.

The B-part provides individual advice on Horizon Europe through appointments with the staff of the OVGU's Research Funding Advisory Service. Based on the research profiles, suitable calls are to be found, as well as information on special features and requirements of the respective calls, partner search and brokerage events.
We ask for appointment by e-mail forschungsfoerderberatung@ovgu.de.
The third part C - is a coaching for making applications. The individual parts of the application are considered. Tips for the success of an application, cost calculation and contracts are given.

Erasmus Internship Offices: Students of the universities

auch in diesem Semester planen wir wieder 3 große hochschulübergreifende digitale Infoveranstaltungen für Studierende sowie eine für Ihre Auszubildenden.
Für die Studierenden werden wir 2 Online-Meetings auf Deutsch (eins vorrangig für Studierende an den Universitäten sowie eins vorrangig für Studierende an den Hochschulen) sowie eins auf Englisch (insbesondere für Internationale Studierende) anbieten. Grundsätzlich können aber alle an jeder Veranstaltung teilnehmen.
Studierende und DoktorandInnen
Deutsch: 30.4., 16-18h (vorrangig HS),
Englisch: 14.5., 16 – 18h
Deutsch: 11.6., 16-18h (vorrangig Unis)
Auszubildende: 8.5., 12-12:30h (Lunchtalk)
Neben allgemeinen Infos zu Praktikumsplatzsuche und –Vorbereitung sowie zum Erasmus-Stipendium werden wir wieder einige TeilnehmerInnen einladen, um über Ihre Praktika zu berichten.
Wir hoffen, dass möglichst viele Studierende, DoktorandInnen als auch Auszubildende die Gelegenheit nutzen, sich aus erster Hand zu informieren. Deshalb würde wir uns sehr freuen, wenn Sie diese über unser Angebot informieren.

How are you?
With your move to Germany, many new things come your way, raising many questions.
Since we know from experience that the German social security system can be quite overwhelming. So we want to offer you support here.
We will advise you in an informative webinar (approx. 60 minutes) what you should know about the German social security system.
For example, you will get important information, such as
• What is the Social insurance system in Germany and what do I have to pay?
• What can I actually do with my health insurance card in Germany and what is covered?
• How do I find a doctor in Germany? And how TK supports me, for example, in making appointments.
When: April 9, 2024 and May 7, 2024, each from 2pm to 3pm.
