KlarText Prize for Science Communication 2026

“What did you actually do in your doctoral thesis?”

– The answer to this question is the focus of KlarText, the Klaus Tschira Foundation's prize for science communication! The foundation is looking for young researchers who have written an excellent doctoral thesis and are keen to explain to a non-scientific audience what they actually did in their research. This should take the form of an article that is understandable to the general public or a clear infographic.

All scientists who have written a doctoral thesis in biology, chemistry, computer science, geosciences, mathematics, neurosciences, or physics in the past two years are eligible to apply. Those who have earned a doctorate in a related field but whose work can be classified in one of the seven areas are also welcome to apply.

The best entries will be selected in three stages by a jury of media professionals and researchers and awarded 7,500 euros each – in each of the seven subject areas.

It's worth getting involved!

  • The best articles and infographics will each receive €7,500 and be published in the science magazine KlarText.
  • The winners will be accepted into the Klaus Tschira Foundation's active alumni network.
  • All information online
  • Application deadline: February 28, 2026
